NFL Week 1 DFS Quick Picks

Derek Carr – QB (DK$6,700, FD$7,700)

The Raiders find themselves in the game with the highest total on the slate, which means there should be plenty of offense, at least according to Vegas. Carr is a great cash game option this week, as he is up against the Titans who had the 27th DVOA against the pass last season. Very favorable, and all signs point to him having a 300 yard game. With how good the offensive line has been for the Raiders, expect plenty of time for him to make accurate throws, which will limit his interception potential. Great in a stack with either Amari Cooper or Michael Crabtree.

Ezekiel Elliott – RB (DK$8,100, FD$8,000)

With all the talk about Johnson and Bell being the top two options at running back, Elliott has seemingly gone overlooked. He is able to play week 1 vs the Giants, and his future is unclear for the following part of the season, so why not save some money and play the leading rusher from last season? In his two games vs the Giants last year, Elliott had 44 rushing attempts, 158 yards, and 1 touchdown. The Giants did have a solid defense last year, and are looking at much of the same this season. So while it may not be the best match up, if Elliott is going to be out following this game, he might leave it all on the field to put up big numbers.

Doug Baldwin – WR (DK$6,700, FD$7,500)

Baldwin is in a very favorable spot to start the season, as he is up against the Packers who had the 23rd DVOA against the pass last year. To makes things easy, the Packers have a terrible secondary, truly terrible. They are going to have another rough year if they can’t stop the pass, and this puts, us, fantasy players in a spot to target their defense with opposing wide receivers. Baldwin is one of the top targets for Russell Wilson and he should plenty of looks. Love him in all formats.

Ted Ginn Jr. – WR (DK$4,200, FD$5,600)

With the suspension to Willie Snead, we should see Ted Ginn get a bump in targets. He is in a tough match up against the Vikings, but with Drew Brees at the helm for the Saints, we know they can air the ball out and put up points regardless of match up. For his price you won’t need a ton of production from him, so that coupled with the fact he brings a bit of salary relief is always a good thing. Note, this game is on Monday night, so you have to play one of the expanded slates to get him on your roster.

Charles Clay – TE (DK $3,200, FD$4,600)

If you are in favor of what most DFS players like to do, which is spend down at tight end, then this is a pick for you. With the departure of Sammy Watkins from the Bills, Charles Clay becomes the pass catcher with the most experience with quarterback Tyrod Taylor. Considering Taylor was just cleared off the concussion protocol, he might be hesitant to push the ball deep, and just settle for some easy passes, and that is where Clay can come in. He is up against Jets who had the 19th DVOA against tight ends last year, and puts him in a very comfortable spot.
