Week 11 DFS Quarterback Options
Who are the top quarterbacks to start in DFS for Week 11?
Drew Brees
If you are looking to spend for a big name at the quarterback position, it is Drew Brees. Last week he went into Cincinnati and hung up 52 points. While it would be hard to say that he could replicate such a perfect performance, this is a different Drew Brees and a different Saints team. They typically woulds struggle on the road in a cold weather game outside. However, they are on a mission, and they are looking to win Drew Brees the MVP.
Now, they are back in the dome and taking on an Eagles secondary that is getting torched by just about everybody. When looking at their starting secondary Jalen Mills and Rondald Darby were their cornerbacks to start the year. Neither will be suiting up for this game, and Darby is out for the year.
Sidney Jones started in the slot, but has missed the past few weeks. While he is expected to come back, he is likely to play on the outside, thanks to the lack of depth on the unit. This is where Jones played in college but it is a new spot. He will be playing across from Rasul Douglas, who has typically been a backup.
At safety, Avonte Maddox is a rookie who has moved to free safety after playing cornerback in college. Of course, with the lack of depth he may have to move back to cornerback, but that only weakens them at safety. Then, last week Malcolm Jenkins left with an injury. He is expected to play, but this secondary is nowhere close to what it was when they won a Super Bowl last year.
Drew Brees is back in the dome against a team he wants to show out against in the defending Super Bowl champs. On top of that is a banged up secondary. Look for Brees to be the chalk play in DFS this week.
Carson Wentz
Playing across from Drew Brees, Carson Wentz is going to need to put up. It felt like in the Eagles loss to the Dallas Cowboys last week that they learned something. This is a team that cannot dance around the idea that they are going to run the football. They tried to run the football against the Cowboys, dug a hole and had to climb out of it.
However, throughout the game they had success moving the football down the field. Now, they get a New Orleans Saints pass defense that ranks 29th in explosive rate. The Saints are going to put Marshon Lattimore on Alshon Jeffery. They are going to put Von Bell on Zach Ertz. Those are not bad matchups for the Saints.
However, it means that Nelson Agholor and Golden Tate are in prime situations to eat. Wentz is going to spread the ball around, he is going to establish a relationship with Golden Tate who is lined up on P.J. Williams, and he is going to get into a track meet with Drew Brees in a dome. Look for Wentz to put up big stats this week.
Andrew Luck
Andrew Luck is officially matchup proof. His offensive line is one of the best in the NFL and he is getting the football out quick. Jack Doyle is healthy and with that, the Colts can go into a lot of run heavy looks, with Doyle, Eric Ebron, and Moe Allie-Cox in the mix. They also have three running backs in Nyheim Hines, Marlon Mack and Jordan Wilkins. With that, they get teams to creep in to defend the run, only to use all six in passing situations with Luck.
This does not even factor in the wide receiver position. While the position is led by T.Y. Hilton and is not too deep behind it, Hilton could be in for a big game. Malcolm Butler consistently gets beat deep and while Adoree Jackson has speed, Hilton could expose him.
While all attention goes to the pass catching run players, Hilton can squirt free deep. Still, the fact that 9-10 players can be used in the passing game is all the more reason to lean to Luck.
Luck is in a dome, he is on fire and has been torching every defense and gets a middle of the pick group. This should be a great spot for Andrew Luck.
Marcus Mariota
Carson Wentz and Drew Brees square off and so do Luck and Mariota. These are going to be the best spots to go to in DFS this week, as both games should break out in a back and forth nature.
As mentioned, Luck is going to move the ball. Fortunately for Tennessee, so is Mariota. Corey Davis broke out last week against Stephon Gilmore. What was so impressive about the performance was that the Titans moved him around in and out of the slot to find the best matchups and situations for him. It shows that the offense is opening up more with Mariota now that he is healthy, and he is finally establishing a connection with his stud receiver.
When it comes to where Davis can line up, the Colts have the worst cornerbacks in the NFL in and are getting torched in all three spots. Look for Davis to have a huge game, but also boost the Mariota total.
While the Titans do not have great threats, neither did Blake Bortles who threw for 320 yards and two touchdowns just last week. The Colts cornerbacks are that bad. Whoever can add into the passing game is going to boost Mariota.
Then, there is leg factor for Mariota. The Colts also are not getting a lot of pressure home. When it comes to the Titans, their offensive line is sound, led by Jack Conklin and Taylor Lewan on the edges. This could give Mariota time in the pocket, but also allow him to see gaps in the second level, and expose them with his legs. With rushing stats, Corey Davis a defense giving up stats and the back and forth nature of going against Luck can all add into Mariota being a great fantasy play. When considering his price, he is going to be the best value of the group.
