Championship Sunday Fantasy Preview

Green Bay at Atlanta

The Packer WR corps is awfully banged up and thin in a game that they will be needing to put some points up. The Atlanta offense, as the Seahawks can attest to, are no joke, especially in the happy confines of the Georgia Dome. There defense can be negotiated but can the Packers match the Falcons in a shootout with a banged up Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams. The two combined for 24 scores in the regular season but QB Aaron Rodgers has other weapons. Adams and Nelson are both questionable and are tough to consider in DFS. Which leaves WR Randall Cobb, TE Jared Cook and RB Ty Montgomery as the primary healthy receivers in pass-heavy script. Montgomery in particular ias attractive in FanDuel with his $6.9k price tag and Atlanta's generous nature to running backs. The most expensive TE in DFS this week? Likely TE Jared Cook who is $6.4k this week. For Atlanta, WR Juli o Jones is a pretty penny as always but don't shy away from Taylor Gabriel. As the number two WR he could see lots of room to maneuver and the Falcons like to do different things with the speedster. RB Devonta Freeman showed the world what he could do versus the Seahawks whose run defense is better than Green Bay's. At 8k he has put up 20 points in FanDuel in six of the last eight games he's played. RB Tevin Coleman, a big threat play himself is also a nice low-end RB2. Atlanta's defense is probably the second safest bet behind New England's this week. The Pack defense, particularly their secondary was able to contain the Seahawks bunch, got burned heavy by the Cowboys, but the Atlanta passing game is far more dynamic that either of those teams. They will probably focus on Jones after what WR Dez Bryant did to them.

Pittsburgh at New England

Patriots QB Tom Brady has thrown 19 TDs and no picks against the Steelers under Mike Tomlin. The Steelers don't have much hope in Foxboro without putting a dent in that goose egg. With the Steelers using six field goals to best the Chiefs, they now have to solve a Pats defense that probably won't let RB LeVeon Bell do whatever he wants. There is some thought that Brady, with a gimpy Chris Hogan and old Martellus Bennett will be hard pressed to match Pittsburgh drive for drive. RB Dion Lewis has emerged as the lead and he will certainly be leaned upon in this game. The Steelers have some speedy linebackers that can follow Lewis in space but the Steelers are susceptible to allowing yards to RBs. WR Julian Edelman has been consistent the last few months, putting up double digit figures in FanDuel in every game since October 23rd. He's a great WR1 in this matchup as he'll work plenty in the slot. Pittsburgh has clamped down on passing games, not allowing a QB over 265 passing yards since Week 10, meaning Brady is the third best option behind the two NFC passers. Big Ben's road splits and then injuries to his secondary options (no Ladarius Green) make him fourth. Big Ben will need to force feed WR Antonio Brown, who should see lots of Malcom Butler but his $8.4k price tag is great for what will be a volume game. Don't shy away from Bell either given his postseason he's had so far and the passing volume he will see if the Pats try to load the box. TE Jesse James is sure to see his fair share of targets, especially in the red zone and is clearly the 2nd best option this week at $5.4k.
