The Dallas Stars captain should be looking forward to a new year, with a better offensive output under coach Ken Hitchcock. Hitchcock loves to play his best players against the best opposition, which should translate into more minutes for Benn this season. A true power forward, Benn mixes up the points with the goals and hits for true roto production. Last year's 79 points were a bounce back from an off 2016 with 69 for the Stars. The motivation to exceed these point totals, and lead his team back to the post season, should have Benn back up to the PPG, or better mark.

This 6'5", 225-pound Winnipeg Jet winger has been underrated for most of his career, but after a career year of 68 assists and 91 points those oversights are likely over. Poolies now know and expect a power forward game from this behemoth, from 25+ goals, 100+ hits and 250+ SOG, he likely won't last long in your draft. Adding him to your team means you get cross-category performance and great exposure to a top powerplay and excellent line mates. As the Jets fortunes continue to rise so will the play of one Blake Wheeler.

A disappointing season saw Burns turn out a 12 goal, 67-point year for the Sharks rearguard in 17-18, a goal decline of 17 from the previous year. With a now improved powerplay including Ottawa castoff Erik Karlsson, Burns should see a return to goal scoring form with an elite playmaker passing him the puck most nights. He is entering his 33rd year but hasn't missed a game in four seasons so you can draft him with confidence to turn out the powerplay points and lock down your blueline.

Hedman is the reigning Norris Trophy winner. He scored 17 goals and 63 points last season, leading the Bolts to within one win of the Stanley Cup Final. Hedman's skills are sublime. He has everything -- size, smarts, skill and skating. He defends better than he scores and is an absolute beast. After that he has many things going his way, the top blueline spot on the powerplay, gifted scorers and playmakers in Stamkos, Kucherov and Johnson, along with willingness to log big minutes all season long.

The greatest sniper of his generation, and one of the best goal scorers of all time finally won his elusive first Stanley Cup. A dangerous combination of size and skill, Ovechkin has been the consensus #1 roto pick for the past decade with an ability to put up a stat line of 40+ goals, 350+ SOG and 200+ hits year in and year out. 2017-18 saw him return to form with a 49-goal campaign and top 350 shots on goal once again. A true specimen, even entering the twilight of his career he is still a top 15 fantasy player.

With the body of an NFL linebacker, Byfuglien has gone from late draft pick to a star, while playing at forward and defense. Now securing the blue line for the Winnipeg Jets, he uses his cannon of a shot and physical play to set the tone, night in and night out. Securing at least 45 points from the past 4 seasons, while hammering 200+ SOG, 80+ PIMs, and 180+ hits, Byfuglien is a top tier rotisserie player. Players who can land you that type of stat contribution are can't miss players and Byfuglien is only one of a few to do that much damage across the board.

Situating himself on the left wing of Patrice Beregeron and David Pastrnak, the chirpy forward matched his point total from 16-17 with 85 points in 68 games. This "little-ball-of-hate" not only was a killer on the scoresheet but also, pushed possession while he was on the ice with a CF% of 60.7, the best of his career too. With now having sealed two back-to-back campaigns of over a point per game numbers, Marchand is showing he is worth his standing as one of the top LW in the league. Though not very loved on the ice by his opponents, drafting him will likely secure that your opponents hate you too.

Pavelski has seen a steady decline in output the past few years, netting just 22 goals and 66 points last season. Now at a ripe age of 34, the San Jose captain should be expected to see him numbers decline, but the addition of Karlsson to the team could help. Still a threat every night on a potent powerplay, surrounded by the likes of Brent Burns and Joe Thornton, Pavelski is still looked on to do a lot of goal scoring from the Sharks. He hasn't missed more than 2 games over the past 4 seasons, and that kind of reliability is hard to find in contact sports. If he can find a line of 30 goals, 225 shots, 100 hits and 500 faceoff wins, poolies will be happy at the draft table and likely all-season long.

A steal of the '08 draft at 15th overall, Ottawa has found themselves a generational talent and now Norris trophy winner for NHL's best defenseman in 11-12. The woeful Senators won't be making many headlines this year with their offensive play, but any points that are tallied will likely be going through the stick of this man. As a puck-moving, minute-munching defenseman, Letang is a force at either end of the rink. The now 3-time Stanley Cup champion has seen injuries stall his ability to reach his full potential in past years, when on the ice he is still an all world offensive defenseman. Owning no less than a 0.78 PPG over the past three seasons and manning a powerplay with Crosby, Malkin and Kessel, it would be a mistake to allow Letang to slide too far down your draft boards. The question unfortunately always is "how many games will he play?". We can't answer that for you, but we do know that with his history of production and high-class teammates, when he hits the ice, he'll be racking up the points.

Tampa Bay Lighting slapped the puck out of the arena when they selected Kucherov 58th overall in 2011. You don't often find 40 goal scorers in the 2nd round of the draft but that's exactly what the Lighting have found themselves with this past season. It has been a steady rise in production season after season for Kucherov after posting 30, 40 and now 39 goals in respective years. His SOG totals have been on the up and up as well, seeing him post 279 last year, the best of his young career so far and placing him in the top 20 overall. With a full season from captain Steven Stamkos, Kucherov could see better matchups this year to increase his already career numbers from last year.

Already a three-time 25+ goal scorer in the NHL, Forsberg is still only 23 years old and is developing into a cornerstone of the Predators offense. With his high-volume shooting (230+ SOG the past three of four seasons) and accuracy it looks like Forsberg will be lighting the lamp a lot in his future as he has in his past. Not afraid of throwing his body around either he put up 86 hits last season too. At just 20 years of age, Patrik Laine has everything it takes to become the next goal-scoring giant in the NHL and he knows it too. Already owning a body of 6'4" and 200+ pounds, this man-child has a lot of room to grow and all the time to do it. With a skillset of great speed, a rocket shot and deft hands he will perennially challenging for the Rocket Richard trophy while leaving goaltenders shaking in their skates. An incredible sequel to his rookie campaign last year, saw him rack up 44 goals and 70 points in 82 games. It looks to be only a matter of time till Laine is pushing for 50 goals, 300 SOG and 100+ hits which would put him in rarefied air for rotisserie scoring and multi-category dominance.

Landeskog trailed only line mate Nathan MacKinnon in shots on goal (183) for the Avalanche during the 2017-18 season and recorded a solid 13.7 shooting percentage. That combo led the Avalanche captain to 25 goals and 62 points, both of which just fell short of career highs set in 2013-14. Landeskog, 25, should have no issue eclipsing the 60-point mark in 2018-19, something he's done twice in his career. However, owners will be hoping he can do them one better this season, perhaps exceeding 70 points along the way.

As one of the greatest defensemen of his generation, Doughty displays all-around brilliance in all three zones of the ice. Not only did the Kings reward the 28-year-old Doughty with a long-term extension, but they also got him a new weapon to feed in Ilya Kovalchuk. If Kovalchuk is anything like the player he was when he last played in the NHL, Doughty will have two genuine stars available to feed on a regular basis.

In the upcoming 2017-18 season, the Calgary Flames will boast one of the best defensive corps in the NHL and the undrafted Giordano leads the charge of that group. Though only standing 6'0" and 198 pounds, Giordano might come undersized to the rink, but his tenacity and industrious leadership have won him the praise of his teammates. A consistent performer even with games lost due to injury, Giordano has put up at least 38 points, 150 SOG and 100 blocked shots over the past four years.

As the son of former NBA forward Popeye Jones, Seth is a true athlete possessing the puck-handling and passing skills to be a real offensive force. The 23-year-old continued to blossom last year as the No. 1 blueliner in Columbus, setting career highs in nearly every imaginable category: goals, assists, power-play points, plus-minus, time on ice, shots, even hits and blocked shots. Jones is the complete package of size and skill, and scary as it is for opposing clubs to contemplate, he may not have hit his ceiling yet. Better health and further development from Zach Werenski alongside him can only help boost Jones' numbers as well.

Blessed with outstanding skating ability and the desire to rush the puck up the ice, P.K. is a flair defenseman who can dish out the punishment to opposing players and quarterback the powerplay. Subban's second season with the Preds was about as good as anyone could have asked for. He set a personal best in goals with 16 and fell just one-point shy of his career high in points with 59. This ranked eighth in scoring among NHL defensemen, and led to a third-place finish for the Norris Trophy at season's end.

The Czech sniper is a rising star in the NHL and turned it up in 17-18 with 35 goals and 80 points in 82 games. Playing on one of the best lines in the game with Marchand and Bergeron, the promising winger is still learning his potential at 21 years of age. He'll see himself locked into the Bruin's long-term plans, as he is only two years into a six-year $40 million deal.

The Swedish winger paced the Ducks in goals in back-to-back seasons, lighting the lamp 33 and 34 times, respectively. Rakell also fired a career-high 230 shots on goal in 2017-18 to finish with a 14.8 shooting percentage. If the Ducks can figure out a flow for their power play, Rakell will easily top the 18 points he produced with the man advantage last season and could eclipse that number just as well. The Swede has a No. 1 power-play spot locked in as well, and it seems that only a serious injury could keep him from playing close to 20 minutes per contest in 2018-19.
