Season Outlook

Known for their stout defense, the Broncos offense is routinely forgotten. Since the decline and departure of hall-of-fame QB Peyton Manning, the Broncos have scuffled to find a viable replacement. As it stands, Trevor Siemian is expected to start Week 1 while 2016 first-round draft pick Paxton Lynch will man the headset on the sidelines Siemian started 14 games last season, registering 3,401 passing yards and 18 touchdowns. Though those numbers are expected to increase in year two, it's best to leave the Broncos QBs alone. Former head coach and QB guru Gary Kubiak retired this offseason, which led to the hiring of Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. The hiring doesn't suggest any drastic changes to the offensive playbook as Mike McCoy has been brought back in to rebuild this offense. An added workload on RB C.J. Anderson is forecasted given the inexperience at the quarterback position. Anderson has a high ceiling but hasn't been able to stay healthy starting in just 19 games in four years. Prior to last season's injury, Anderson averaged 15 attempts per game that bellied 427 rushing yards. He's an intriguing RB2 option handcuffed with Jamal Charles or Devontae Booker. Broncos WRs Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas will attempt to kick start this offense after the dynamic duo shredded opposing offenses for a combined 2,115 yards and 281 targets. Thomas was the top option, hauling in a team-high 90 footballs for 1,083 yards and five touchdowns. Both are stellar WR2 options with appeal as a WR1. TE Virgil Green is listed as the team's starting TE on the depth chart, however, his value at TE is in blocking and has no fantasy relevance.

Player Outlooks & Draft Analysis

Quarterbacks

Case Keenum

Keenum should be able to post similar stats to what we saw in Minnesota last season, and makes for a late round or waiver wire option as a short-term or bye week fill in. Projecting him much beyond the next season or two is difficult.

Paxton Lynch

Pay attention to the battle for the backup job in Denver. Chad Kelly hasn't taken an NFL snap yet, and if Lynch can't manage to hold him off in camp it will be telling.

Chad Kelly

At this point the Broncos know what they have in Lynch so don't be surprised if Kelly gets the nod should Keenum miss any time.

Defenses

Denver Defense

The Broncos defense has seemingly taken a step back in recent years, along with the team overall. They traded Aqib Talib away but added Tramaine Brock and Su'a Cravens for their secondary. They drafted Bradley Chubb with the fifth overall pick to bolster their defensive line, which should prove to be their strong suit moving forward. Chubb lining up opposite of Von Miller can be one of the edge rushing combos in the league. Right now they are, on average, the sixth defense being taken off the board, which in my opinion seems a bit too high. Denver allowed the third fewest runs last season, which is strong, but they were bottom 10 in both sacks and interceptions. Limiting yards is great, but that doesn't translate to fantasy points. We should see a similar outcome this year, with a boost to their sack potential.

Nugget , - Chiefs and the Broncos
29 Sep 2018 - 11:47am

Monday will test the young Mahomes In an away game with the Denver Broncos. Thirteen touchdown passes and no interceptions a 137.4 passer rating and only sacked four times. The Chiefs are 30th in opponents yards per play and tied for last in opponents passing yards. Opposing quarterbacks have a 106.3 passer tating against the Kansas City Chiefs and have given up at least 27 points in each game.
27 points still will not help the Denver Broncos the Kansas City Chiefs are a 4.5 on the road favorite and the over/under is 55. The Chiefs score at least 38 points in each game. Von Miller and Bradley Chubb will give him a run but Mahones and the Chiefs will still come out on a win with the dissapointing Denver defense.
