Season Outlook

The Jets aren't expected to compete at a high-level this year, which isn't a good indication of the team's fantasy outlook for the 2017 season. Their starting QB, Josh McCown, never has been a feasible option at QB. If he was a starter on someone's team, it was likely because your QB1 was injured. He never really dominated with the Browns and Buccaneers, failing to surpass the 3,000 yard passing mark and is entering his 13th and likely final NFL season. Wide receivers Charone Peake, Robby Anderson and Jalin Marshall are expected to be the teams key contributors in the pass offense, yet don't bring much to the table. Enunwa led the Jets in receiving in 2016 with 857 yards and four touchdowns on 58 receptions. Unfortunately for Enunwa, he will miss the remainder of the season with a serious neck injury. Peake and Anderson were apart of the Jets last season and totaled 773 yards two touchdowns between them. With the lack of talent through the air, first-year offensive coordinator John Morton will look to incorporate dual-threat RB Matt Forte in his offense in every way he can. Though he will struggle to run a vertical offense, Forte will be given opportunity to rush and catch the ball. During his first season as a Jet, Forte started 13 games, racking up 813 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Forte's draft stock is hindered by a weak offensive line, but when healthy, Forte gives defensive players headaches. Aside from Forte, leave the rest of the Jets offense alone.

Player Outlooks & Draft Analysis

Josh McCown

McCown should be the Week 1 starter, but once the Jets are out of it or he inevitably goes down with an injury, Darnold should start seeing snaps. That also assumes McCown can hold off Teddy Bridgewater in camp, which is not guarantee. Despite a solid receiving corps he's a dicey proposition for the season, even in redraft formats.

Davis Webb

By all accounts Webb has come a long way from the player we saw as a rookie, but the Giants aren't moving away from Eli Manning unless they're forced to do so. Webb also wasn't drafted by the current regime so he has some work to do this offseason. If he wants to have a future in new York then he'll need to separate himself from Lauletta markedly in August.

Sam Darnold

Proceed with caution on Darnold for redraft purposes, as he comes into camp behind two capable NFL quarterbacks and he's probably in the least pressure-filled situation of the the first round picks, even in New York. The Jets aren't going anywhere in 2018 and they have enough in McCown in Bridgewater that there's no need to throw Darnold to the wolves. Despite the conjecture that he'll play early, the Jets don't need to rush him and it wouldn't be surprising if he logged a few late season starts and not much more.

Running Backs

Le'Veon Bell

The combination of Bell playing for a contract and the Steelers looking to squeeze everything they can out of their franchise back before he skips town, could be the recipe for a monster fantasy season.
